4 Days Highlands Special

Day 1
Arrive Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After clearing customs and immigration formalities, you are met and transferred to the historic Norfolk Hotel, located in the city center. Due to its prime location and popularity with safari-goers, the Norfolk is considered “safari central” in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, which has grown since 1899 from a simple Uganda Railway construction camp named “enairobi”in Maasai language (meaning a place of cold water in reference to the cold waters of the Nairobi River) to the modern center for commercial, financial, manufacturing and tourist activity in East Africa. It replaced Mombasa as Kenya’s capital in 1907 and became a city in 1950. today, its population is well over 1.5 million. Both the Great North Road ( Cairo to Cape Town) and the Trans-African Highway ( Mombasa to Lagos) pass through Nairobi.

Overnight: Norfolk Hotel

Day 2
Depart Nairobi after breakfast in a 4 x 4 minibus f itted with telescoping roof hatch for facilitated photography with your driver/guide. Drive north through the beautiful rolling hills and coffee plantations to the dramatic Aberdare Mountains and the Ark, the famous tree hotel. Throughout the night elephant, rhino, buffalo and other game come to the water hole. They are so close you can actually hear them breathe. Floodlights permit night game viewing. Please note: One overnight bag per person is allowed at The Ark. The balance of your luggage will be stored at the Aberdare Country Club and collected the next morning before departing for Sweetwaters.

Day 3
Depart The Ark after breakfast for Sweetwaters Tented Camp with its 80,000-acre private game park. After lunch take a game drive where you actually have a chance to pet and be photographed with a tame Rhino, Morani, currently under the protection of the Kenya Wildlife Services. You also have the wonderful opportunity to visit the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

Overnight: Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

Day 4
After breakfast drive back to Nairobi at a leisurely pace to arrive by noon. After lunch at the CARNIVORE RESTAURANT, proceed to your day-rooms at the NORFOLK HOTEL. Later you will be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your outward-bound flight.
